I saw this recipe in a magazine and thought about you folks that like to make novelty jellies and jams. I am headed to the package store today… Enjoy- The Homesteader’s Wife.

  • 3 Limes
  • 2 Lemons
  • 4 ¼ c Sugar
  • 1 ½ c water
  • ¼ cup whiskey
  • ½ 6 ounce pkg of liquid pectin
  • 5 Maraschino Cherries
  • 5 Orange slices

How ya do it:

Sterilize 5 ½ pint jars and lids. Place in 225 degree oven to keep jars warm and lids on stove top. Juice limes and lemons to get 6 Tbl juice of each. In a heavy pot, stir lime and lemon juices, sugar, water, and whiskey. Cook over high heat until mixture comes to a full boil. Stir constantly. Quickly stir in pectin and return to a boil while stirring constantly. Boil for one minute. Remove from heat. Skim off foam. Place one cherry with stem and one orange slice in each jar. Ladle hot jelly into jars and fill to allow ¼” head space.  Wipe rims and place lids and rims. Place in hot water bath and process for 5 minutes. Allow to cool and set overnight. Remove rims, inspect for seal, and wash jars. Allow to set at room temp for one week for jelly to set.
